Spirit Dragon, mortal name Draig, is a character in Housepets!. She first appeared possessing Tarot in Soul Scattering Will Do That but made her first physical appearance in Dog Days of Summer. Her mortal fox form was introduced in Temple Crashers 2: Epilogue Crashers.

She is a celestial dragon who opposed her brother Pete during the events of the Cosmic Game.

Physical Appearance[]

Celestial[]

Spirit Dragon's celestial form is a serpentine green dragon several meters long. She has a bright green "Eye of Horus" symbol on her chest that is the same color as her eyes (which also featured as Tarot's original collar). She is capable of flight despite not having wings. She has a "casual" form where her body becomes more anthropomorphic, allowing her to wear clothing.

Mortal[]

Spirit Dragon's, now renamed Draig, mortal form is a fox kit. Her fur is mainly light orange, with peach fur on her underside, and brown fur on her ears and paws. Like her brother Craig, she has a brown mark on her muzzle on the right side of her nose similar to Karishad.

Personality[]

While Spirit Dragon seems to a less jerkish version of Pete, she has her own trip-ups as well; she tends to interfere with her avatar's lives, specifically Tarot and Sabrina, as she sent Tarot to become Peanut's girlfriend before forming her own crush on Peanut and trying to take him for herself (Tarot and Sabrina specifically mention how whiny she can be.)

Spirit Dragon is known to hate conflict and causing collateral damage, and her indecisiveness is most apparent when she was unable to choose between Satau and Ptah as her avatar so she simply gave them both equal power. Despite her position as a celestial, she is also prone to being childish, inconsiderate and emotional, and when she cries it rains.

As a mortal fox kit she seems to be more sarcastic, and clearly annoyed by her loss of power; complaining that her short time as a mortal has already felt like several lifetimes.

General Information[]

Spirit Dragon was a member of a team of celestials that would go through dimensions and fight off Arch-demons. However she got into a fight with her comrade; Pete, about who was the leader. They decided to settle it through a game of Universes & Unrealities, the winner would lead their gaming group and the loser would be stuck inside a mortal body for a lifetime. Spirit Dragon's mana temple is located in Egypt, and at the start of the game when Pete placed his temple in a vast desert, Spirit Dragon cursed it so Pete was unable to leave and thus accrue any followers for 5000 years.

Spirit Dragon has had a total of 150 avatars, her most recent was Tarot and her second one was Satau. She would constantly take control of Tarot whenever she accessed supernatural powers, in which Tarot's eyes would change green like Spirit Dragon's.

Spirit Dragon first appeared before King during the Good Ol' Dogs Club's summer cookout after he had followed Tarot into the woods and found Pete. There, Tarot transformed into Spirit Dragon, revealing herself and the nature of the Cosmic Game. She even offered to turn King back into a human, but was not permitted by the rules of the game to do so (as she was technically an "enemy player" and could not directly intervene on his behalf). Though Pete left after this Dragon remained keeping her eye on Babylon Gardens, waiting for Pete to return.

Spirit Dragon also started developing feelings for Peanut, Tarot's boyfriend, despite the fact she originally sent Tarot to prevent Pete from acquiring Peanut as an avatar. This caused some issues between her and her "avatar", and Peanut was brought to the Gallifrax Dimension to decide between them. After Peanut chose Tarot, Dragon went into a fit and began sobbing--causing a rainstorm, Max angrily confronted her over her selfish behavior and she retreated to her Extra-Dimensional Room, but unknowingly brought Max with her by mistake. Max helped her out a bit, and Dragon calmed down before returning Max to his bedroom.

Dragon appeared again as she fought against Pete in Australia who had gained Bailey as his avatar with Tarot and Sabrina as a relief. King uses the Cosmic Lantern to get everyone to stop fighting, believing Pete was cheating she met him and Great Kitsune at a milkshake shop. Kitsune announced that the game would end if either party couldn't convince their avatars to keep fighting; she attempted to sway Tarot and Sabrina, but both refused (on the account Dragon had attempted to take Peanut from Tarot, and had given Sabrina grief over her past boyfriends), causing her to lose along with Pete. She also realized she had been a terrible person and began to cry--causing it to rain once more.

Dragon was accompanied by Pete as they approached the portal that would take them to their new mortal life. Dragon gave Pete a reassurance that everything would be alright, and for the first time in the comic called him her brother.

Back in the year 5000 BC, Spirit Dragon sent her second avatar, a canine named Satau, into the future in order to get a glimpse of how the game would turn out, but accidentally sent him too far and he wound up in the present after the game had already ended. Peanut, Tarot, Max, Grape and Sabrina cast a spell in order to return him but accidentally get sent back in time, remaining hidden from Dragon's sight by the Cosmic Lantern.

Satau reveals that he fought for Dragon's power against his rival, a cat named Ptah. Dragon both gave them artifacts of power as she did not want to choose between the two. Eventually the Cosmic Lantern shatters, and the five are brought to Spirit Dragon, but she does not recognize who they are. She returns them back to their own time, and blanks her memory of them in order to prevent spoilers about the end of the game, causing a time paradox. She also calls Peanut cute, hinting at her future crush on him.

Years after the game ended, it was revealed that she was reincarnated as a fox kit named Draig, alongside her brother Pete (who is named Craig.) They both reside currently in Jessica's den with their mortal fox mother, Kix, who takes their protests of being celestials as an amusing childish fantasy. She later participates in her first Imaginate! where she plays the role of Lex Murphy.

Trivia[]

  • Spirit Dragon originally seemed to be a secondary form of Tarot in Dog Days of Summer, but this was retconed in We're Snowed In! by clarifying that they are two separate entities.
