Rodney, also known as Cousin Rodney, is a minor character in Housepets!. He first appeared in From the Outside In and he is Snow's mate. They are both part of the Wolf Pack and they have three young cubs.

Physical Appearance[]

Rodney is one of the biggest wolves in the Pack. He's about as tall as Miles but he's more stocky. His fur is a shade of brown-gray with a ligther shade over his muzzle and underbelly. He has lime green eyes.

Rodney wears an orange-brown neckerchief, similar to Uncle Deadeye's blue shawl. When he worked as security for the Miltons he would wear a green vest, and like the rest of the Wolves, he wears an identity tag in the shape of a golden coin when he's in public.

Personality[]

Rodney is a cheerful and carefree wolf. This was very apparent in his most notable appearance in the comic, during the Wolves' Christmas party of 2012. In this strip, Rodney tells King that if he keeps worrying about the future, he will never appreciate the present. As long as he has love, there's nothing to worry about.

Rodney is always helpful, but he's also quite naive. He cheers for Bino during his Rite of Adulthood despite his arrogance, and during Bailey's birth, he made sure to bring every single towel in Wolf House.

General Information[]

Rodney is legally owned by Keene Milton as part of the Equal Chance Program so that he can participate in human society and live in Wolf House like the rest of the Wolves. This also lets him work as security for the Milton Ferrets.

The Wolf Pack family tree

Perhaps the most interesting topic regarding Rodney is his relationship to the Wolf Pack. To the right is one possible version of the wolf pack family tree, where red lines indicate uncertain relationships. Rodney's side of the pack is to the left. In the old website, Rodney was tagged as "Cousin Rodney", and therefore it's widely accepted that Rodney is Miles' cousin. It's also implied that Rodney, Uncle Deadeye, and Natalie are closely related (see "Natalie and Uncle Deadeye" under relationships).

Trivia[]

  • Rodney hasn't appeared in the comic since Bailey's birth in December 2015.
  • On the original website, Rodney's tag was "Cousin Rodney", which was the only indication that he was Miles' cousin. Now his tag is just "Rodney".
